For some it may be hard to understand the concept behind an esports arena, while others are all in right from the start.  This $50M esports arena is the first of it's kind which is something, as Philadelphians, we can be proud to share and it will be home to the Philadelphia Fusion. The Philadelphia Fusion? Yes, we had to look it up's Philly's 9-person esports team...who knew! The Arena will mainly host the Fusion’s year-round recruitment, training, and competitions, but the arena will also host occasional outside events - which is good news for all of you non-gamers out there.

An estimated 250 million people watch esports, although most do so from the comfort of their homes.  Globally this niche market is slated to hit $1.1 billion this year and is trending to become a more watched sport over the next few years. In the U.S., smaller venues are popping up or being built within existing buildings, but there's not been a dedicated space for esports.

The planned Philly arena will be built by Comcast Spectacor and the Cordish Companies. The architect behind the arena? Populous is the firm behind Yankee Stadium, Nationals Park, Gillette Stadium, and many other traditional sports facilities.

We're just as anxious as you are to learn more about the project and see what it's all about.
